Frequently Asked Questions

System Requirements

  • Intel-based Mac
  • OS X 10.10 - macOS 10.13
  • Integrated or external camera supported by QuickTime
  • Recommended network: 1000Mbit-Ethernet

Is Yasla available for the MS-Windows platform?

No. Yasla is built on top of the multimedia capabilities of OS X and the Mac platform. We can’t realise the same functionality while guaranteeing a comparable stability in an MS-Windows environment.
If you are interested in Yasla, but feel that OS X is too much of an uncharted terrain for you, feel free to discuss this with us. We think there are good reasons to choose the Mac platform for a sign language laboratory.

Are headsets supported?

Yes, fully. Headsets are a sensible choice for a sign language laboratory. USB headsets, or analogue headsets connected by inexpensive USB sound cards, are generally supported without additional drivers.

Where do I get the student version?

For the student version there are individual agreements with the operators of the Yasla language laboratories. Please ask your teacher / lecturer for details.
